Rare and Remarkable Collection of 300 St. John's Casino Chips, Havana Cuba $1, $5, $25, $100 Values plus "B" and "C" Chips. Outstanding and valuable collection of 300 St. John's Casino Chips, Havana Cuba in overall very fine to superior condition. The St. John's, inaugurated in 1957, was located on O Street, between 23 and 25, at the heart of Vedado, one block away from the capital’s raising Rampa. It was under the control of José López Vilaboy, an important hotel industrialist at the time, a shareholder in over twenty firms protected by the government and close to president Batista. It had among its facilities, on the top floor, the Pico Blanco cabaret, one of the most popular in the capital because of its colorful performances.
About its casino, even though it was advertised in a 1959 guide book, it never operated. Its chips even remained completely unknown for years until they were brought to light by chance, all new and even in their original cases. This is just such a collection:

This collection highlights olive insert chips 50/$100, 40/$25 (10/25 have rare olive inserts, 30 grey/green 10 teal/green), 55/$5 (5 of these having rare olive inserts) 5/$1, 40/B chips in havest gold, 105/C chips in harvest gold and 5/C chips in red. 12 Scarce Wilbur Clark "Token" Set (Silver Dollar Sized) of Various Compositions: 9 Desert Inn and 3 El Rancho Vegas (One Silver). Wilbur Clark was an American Casino owner and land developer in Las Vegas. He initially financed the building of The Desert Inn, originally called Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn, and ran out of money. He then found completion financing through a silent partner a mobster from Clevleand, but Clark remained the personality and figure head. At any rate, it was the jewel of Paradise, Nevada and attracted swells from all over the world in the 1950s and early 1960s. Offered is a fine, scarce collection of silver dollar sized tokens 1½ x 1½", each unique, that were also used as key chains or affixed to money clips. They are in white metal, copper nickel and one in silver. Nine of the tokens celebrate the Desert Inn and three El Rancho Vegas Casino. The Desert Inn after nearly 50 years was closed and demolished in 2000, pretty much marking the end of old Las Vegas. This collection is steeped with that nostalgia of a time long past. Complete Set of 8 Michigan Tool (MTE) Gaming Tokens from 1965 (Thunderbird Hotel "No Birds" Token) + 1968 Set 48 Franklin Mint Tokens. 1.) Michigan Tool & Engineering was one of a handful of businesses in the US that manufactured silver dollar sized gaming tokens for gambling casinos in Nevada. Offered is their complete set from 1965 including two for the Thunderbird Hotel in Las Vegas; one very rare missing 4 stamped birds on obverse. The six other tokens are Crystal Bay, Sahara and Nevada Club of Lake Tahoe, Harvey's, Stateline, John Ascuaga's Nugget, Sparks, and Joe Mackie's Star, Winnemucca.

Late 19th Century woodworking tools are popular collectibles and this diverse collection makes for a great start or wonderful additions to collectors of every level. All of them have the appealing wear and patina of a near century of use. Collection includes two handsaws from Henry Disston & Sons, Philadelphia with one in particularly excellent condition with gleaming brass in excellent condition, hand drill (with 7 bits), jack planes, molding planes and a fantastic early 12" Stanley tools level in cherry wood and brass. 15+ Year Collection of Tokens: Shell's Mr. President Tokens, Carnival Tokens, Dog Tags, HS Keys etc. Almost 300 Pieces. Full three ring binder of tokens and small tags spanning 75 years collected at coin shows, flea markets and fairs. Included are 61 pieces from Shell Oil's immensely successful marketing ploy Mr. President Coin Game in the 1960s that turned out to be a scandal due to being rigged, not dissimilar to McDonald's Monopoly Game. 31 of the aluminum coins of Presidents and 30 of the bronze colored presidential medals which were prizes for non-cash winner. Also included a collection of 153 carnival, parking, amusement, private business and arcade tokens that fascinate. Rounding out this collection are dog tags, hunting tags, commemorative US coins and a dozen vintage milk bottle caps. Perfect for collectors and secondary sellers on collectors websites. Marshals of France. Three Napoleonic: Murat, Oudinot, and Lefebvre, and a World War I Marshal: Joffre. This lot includes: (1) Joachim Napoleon Murat (1767-1815), brother-in-law to Napoleon. LS "Joachim Napoleon" as King of Naples, 1 p, 7x9 ½", Naples, Nov. 7, 1809, to "Mr. Secretary of State, telling him to leave for Rome immediately. "Leave the order in your desk drawer so that we can carefully address your reports each evening." (2) François Joseph Lefebvre (1755-1820). DS "Lefebvre," as Lt. Gen., 1p, Paris, 16 Germinal, Year 8 (Apr. 6, 1800), ordering Brig. Gen. (Henri François) Charpentier to leave for Rouen to take command of the troops in the 15th Military Division. (3) Nicolas Charles Oudinot (1767-1848), DS July 12, 1814, granting a medical leave of absence to Lt. Fare. Signed in left margin. After Napoleon's first abdication on April 6, 1814, Oudinot was made a Peer of France by Louis XVIII. Unlike Murat and Lefebvre, he did not rally to Napoleon during the Hundred Days (Mar. 20-July 8, 1815). All fine with light toning. Additionally (4) Joseph Joffre (1852-1931) Commander-in-Chief of French forces on the Western Front in World War I through 1916. Card engraved "J. Joffre / Maréchal de France" with autograph sentiment expressing his appreciation of the wishes of Mr. P.A. Anderson, and sending in turn his best wishes for the new year. With a copy of the last photo taken of Joffre, with his wife. Estimated Value $600 - UP
